Frequently Asked Questions
Please reach us at minimosaicacre@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Is your milk pasteurized?
Our milk is raw, not pasteurized or heated. The milk goes straight from the cow, through a filter, then is flash cooled to 38 degrees.
Are your cows grass-fed?
The cows at Mini Mosaic Acre are always on fresh grass. When winter rolls around we supply them with fresh local hay that is not sprayed with any chemicals. The hay is distributed on the same rolling hills our happy cows graze daily. While being milked our Jersey cows are fed a small amount of grain, which accounts for less than 5% of their overall diet. This helps them remain in good condition and contributes to overall good health.
What is A2A2?
It is the "original Milk" and most like human breast milk in its' composition. A2A2 milk is easy to digest without gastrointestinal discomfort. A1A1 milk, found in most grocery stores and on most farms, has a mutation in the B-Casein variant. It is a single nucleotide mutation of the 67th position which converted the proline (found in A2A2 milk) to histidine. That tiny mutation is what causes so many allergies!
How long does raw milk last?
If raw milk is kept at 38 degrees, which requires iced coolers during transport, it can keep up to 14 days. Now keep in mind each time your milk is left on the counter for a few extra minutes it warms above 38 degrees, the shelf-life decreases.
Do you sell half gallons?
We offer 1/2 gallons as a special request. We charge $5 and the milk is delivered in the 1-gallon bags.
Do I need to bring a jar?
No, as part of our commitment to providing our customers with the most nutritious food available, we also keep in mind your convenience. We deliver your milk in beverage bags that have a resealable pour spout.
